At first glance the work No title (Floor) is not distinguishable from the exhibition architecture. A seemingly empty room with bare walls allows the viewer to be in its center – to take space. While at the same time, the work extends across the entire floor - yellow and blue ceramic tiles of red clay compose a drawing from wall to wall. The materials for room installations are chosen by the artist intuitively, just as she chooses the right pen for a certain type of paper. The blue tiles form a smaller rectangle in the center, mirroring the room’s proportions. In this architectural drawing, the visitor is reminded of their own body, the weight they apply during every movement. Each step is a more conscious step, each movement a louder sound. The viewer is part of the drawing, retracing the artist’s own decisions, the routes, the marks she left behind. Text: Lucas Odahara
