Title

Generating for the Archive

Period

28.11.2025, 11:00–18:00

This workshop examines the methods and algorithms behind AI-assisted image generation through the act of generating images itself. By working hands-on with AI models that mathematically link text and images, generate images, or answer questions about images, we will critically explore the possibilities of image generation. The goal is to uncover distortions, idiosyncrasies, and limitations inherent in prompt-based generation. To gain a deeper understanding of the fragile computational relationships that constitute the stochastic “world knowledge” of such models, we will use tools to analyze the digitized collection of the Storage Museum, transform existing database entries, and introduce our own generations into the latent space of the archive. The workshop will be conducted bilingually in English and German. No prior knowledge is required. Please bring a laptop or tablet with you.
